Top notch customer service and food!

Called the day before to reserve a table outside for lunch with my elderly parents. It was important to be outside and away from people with COVID going on and my father being very vulnerable. It was their 47th anniversary and my father’s 76 birthday. Dad hasn’t been out of the house since April and this was July 14th. We got there and there was no table reserved. We chose to eat inside in a corner away from people. The food was wonderful as always but the reservation not being honored was upsetting.

I have never had a cold meal or one that was not present at Ed in a beautiful, tasteful way! Food is excellent, service good and atmosphere very comfortable!

I was there for a Christmas party downstairs. I know the company that had the party paid good money for the space and meal. The food was VERY disappointing. This is also coming after a second experience with the exact same issue. I was honestly pretty shocked about the poor food being that this restaurant has a good reputation with the everyday menu. There was absolutely no taste in the prime rib, some kind of garlic fettuccine noodle dish and ham. I tasted the chicken with some type of red sauce.... same thing. The only thing that tasted like you would expect was the salad and that is pretty much a given anywhere. The staff was excellent and the space was nice but I really feel the food quality was poor and truly hope the company wasn't hit too hard with that expense because I am more than sure they expected better and deserved it.

Great food and wait staff!!

I had a delicious lunch there. A friend has been talking about this restaurant, and we were in the area so stopped there for lunch. So good I'll be making special trips to eat there again. Wait staff was outstanding. Amaretto cheesecake mousse for desert was fabulous.

We had a great experience! Our waitresses name was Ashley! She was awesome! She knew all of the specials and provided excellent service! I would highly recommend this restaurant and Ashley as well!

Top notch service and menu

Best kept secret in the area. I found a rack of lamb on the menu. Was perfect. So many deciduous choices, was hard to make up my mind.

This is inside the country club at the briar leaf golf course. Food was really good. Crab cakes were yummy with very good presentation. Service was good. Not well marked. It's off highway 39 on the way to New Buffalo.

Our first time there and it was a hit! Everything was wonderful! We will go back!

Great food and great people a must go in town

I came here today for a family gathering, and everything was great. I had never heard of the restaurant until yesterday, but I live about an hour away, so that's fine. The service here was great, with workers frequently checking in on us, and helping in any way they could. The food was great as well. I tried chicken Chablis for the first time ever, and it was incredible! They also had Hungarian beef, which was just as great. I had a wonderful time here, and would totally recommend the restaurant to anyone in the area.

Food choices were terrible. The special prime rib sandwich were sold out by 12:40 . Waited 10 minutes to get a drink. Had one good looking waitress but we got the geeky kid.

My wife and I moved to Arizona 8 years ago but return each summer to the Laporte area to visit family and friends. We have been regular patrons at Portofino Grill since 1994 and make several visits there every summer. The food is consistently delicious and staff is always attentive. In fact we are having dinner there again tonight. We highly recommend!

Very elegant and convenient spot. They provide big meals and for fair rates. I liked the menu a lot and the staff members were very friendly and chatty. Will definitely recommend this restaurant.

Service was quick and food was amazing!! Took awhile to get seated, but it was a Friday night so I don't hold it against them :)

Delicious food and good prices. I had chicken crepes and my husband had the prime rib. Both were delicious. We happened on this place while driving on Rte 80. Even though the restaurant was full and we had no reservations, they accommodated us and we ate at an outdoor table overlooking the golf course. The wait staff are very nice.

Had their Prime Rib and it was delicious. Very tender and juicy —- best Prime Rib east of Kansas City.

Excellent food and service. Prices are very reasonable given the level of service and quality of food.

Don't order prime rib alot of hype 50% waste. Large 20oz. Portion poor cut, and only ,3/4" thick at best. Poor quality for $38.00.

My wife and I had dinner at Portofino's recently, everything was fantastic, crab cake appetizers were awesome as well as the prime rib, food was hot , delicious, and the service was excellent, we will definitely be back.

Enjoyed dinner with the family. The prime rib was perfectly cooked with orders for med.rare and med.well.I had the whitefish with a crab cream sauce and it was definitely some of the best I have had. The service was impressive and the staff polite and patient.

Absolutely amazing !My husband took me here for our anniversary & the power went out within the first few minutes of being there !So we ate dinner by candlelight & they were VERY accomodating of us.The food was fantastic & brought to the table quickly.The Steak Diane almost melts in your mouth.Large wine menu & great choices of entrees.We will DEFINITELY be here again in the future.

I work here and the food is very good and has two separate banquet rooms. Nice setting on briar leaf golf course.

Three to 3 1/2 stars. I felt the food was good but not like fantastic. I had the steak Diane. It was made with blackberry Brandy and was not a proper steak Diane reduction. It was cooked just right and nice size medallions. Some enjoyed their meals some did not. We were in a group of about 20 people . We had one waiter. He did a great job. I will go back and try something different. The staff and Mary who took the reservation were all great.

Best duck i have had besides besides cooking mine fresh. And wifes steak was cooked perfectly and tender! Waitress was great too

The food was fabulous, I wasn't impressed with the calamari but everything else was wonderful. Great flavor, great presence.
